With an aim to establish a bond between Bangladeshi people and Non-Resident Bangladeshis (NRBs), NRB World (an organization of NRBs) has started its journey. It is a non-profit, non-political and service-oriented organization. The main aim and objective of this organization is to play a role in developing Bangladesh by using talents, skills and investments of immigrant Bangladeshis. Although NRB World is primarily based in the United States, thousands of expatriate Bangladeshi professionals residing in more than 50 countries around the world have joined this network. NRB World is working to bring expatriate Bangladeshi professionals from all countries of the world under one umbrella.

Though NRB World has officially been launched in 2022, it started its journey almost a decade ago. In fact, the idea of establishing an organization like NRB World came to the force with the organization of the ‘World Business Summit’ with expatriate Bangladeshis in Singapore in 2014. Bearing the same goal in mind, four more World Business Summits were successfully organized in Bangladesh in 2017, in America in 2018, in the United Arab Emirates in 2019 and in Dubai in 2021.

NRB Professional Summit-2022 was organized by NRB World on December 22, 2022 in Dhaka with an aim of establishing a bond between expatriate businessmen, investors and professionals with policy makers of the country. In this summit of international standard, top policy-makers of the government, ministers, and heads of various bodies related to investment and development, local businessmen including development experts, as well as hundreds of expatriate Bangladeshi professionals and investors from different countries of the world participated. The summit produced significant guidelines and consensus on how expatriates can play an effective and meaningful role in country’s development.

NRB World will continue to organize such summits regularly in coming days as well, by which there will be regular exchange of ideas with expatriate Bangladeshi professionals and domestic investors and government policy makers while ensuring continuous communication. As the NRB organization determines to turn the “brain drain” into “brain gain”, it would attempt to connect those Bangladeshis who are aspiring to achieve success in their respective fields with the well established non-resident professionals. NRB world will take three necessary steps to ensure the brain gain project. Firstly, the organization will provide trainings to the youth by these professional pupils and will transform them into great human resources for the country. Secondly, the organization will provide opportunities to these youths to get jobs inside and outside of the country. Thirdly, NRB world wants to contribute by introducing non-resident Bangladeshi experts of different fields to the government as well as the esteemed companies. Hence, they can utilize the talent and expert advices of NRBs in the crucial and valuable projects and enterprises.

 
Overall, NRB world is working on building a strong connection among the Bangladeshi living in and out of the borders along with significant business figures, government officials and policy makers. It will not just enrich the NRBs but also will support the progress of Bangladeshi people and will benefit our motherland thereby.
